A Vessel Safety Check is a courtesy examination of your boat (Vessel) to verify the presence and condition of
certain Safety Equipment required by State and the Federal regulations.
Boating Safety Course
Many boating safety courses are offered throughout the country, for all types of recreational boaters, and for
boaters of all ages. Qualified volunteer organizations, such as the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, U.S. Power
Squadron, and others sponsor many courses, and many state boating agencies also provide classes.
Accident Reporting
Federal law requires the operator, or owner, if the operator is deceased or unable to make the report,to
file a boating accident report with the State reporting authority when, as a result of an occurrence that involves a boat or its
equipment.
